On February 24th, MSc in Luxury Management and MSc in Sustainability and Innovation Management students attended an inspiring talk on sustainability and AI in hospitality, hosted by IUM in partnership with the Forbes Travel Guide Summit.

Sustainability in Hospitality

Hervé Houdré, founder of H2 Sustainability Consulting, emphasized the urgent need for sustainability in the industry. He highlighted climate challenges and urged hotels to adopt responsible practices such as reducing food waste, embracing circular economy strategies, and aligning with global initiatives like the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Small, impactful actions can shape a more sustainable future.

AI’s Role in Hospitality

Stuart Greif, EVP at Forbes Travel Guide, explored how AI enhances guest experiences, streamlines operations, and unlocks valuable data insights. While AI is becoming increasingly important, Greif stressed that human connection remains at the heart of luxury hospitality. AI should complement, not replace, the personal touch that defines exceptional service.

Key Takeaway

Both speakers highlighted the need for balance—between technology and humanity, progress and preservation. As Houdré reminded us: "What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind?"
