[RESEARCH]  Congratulations to Drs. Elena Tavella and Elizabeth Norman Ghiandai!

👉 Their article, "Strategic management at entrepreneurial universities: how micro-interactions between middle and top managers shape outcomes of entrepreneurial activities," is published in the 2* International Studies of Management & Organization.

• This study examines how interactions between middle and top managers influence strategic decisions at an entrepreneurial university.

• Based on a 12-month case study of strategy meetings, the research identifies two types of managerial interaction patterns: cooperative constellations and oppositional constellations. Surprisingly, the findings show that oppositional interactions—where managers challenge each other and create a sense of urgency—tend to lead to more effective and timely outcomes, while highly cooperative interactions often result in slower implementation of strategic projects.

• Overall, the study highlights that a certain level of constructive tension and urgency in managerial discussions can improve strategic execution in entrepreneurial universities.
