New Spaces and International Opportunities

September 2024 Academic Year

The International University of Monaco (IUM) starts this new academic year with remarkable expansion while staying true to its unique identity. This year, IUM welcomed over 1,000 students, including around 250 master’s students starting September 2 and 280 new first-year bachelor’s students beginning September 16, a sign of the university’s growing appeal.

The IUM has seen its student body grow by 15% for this new academic year, with approximately 550 new enrollments. Jean-Philippe Muller, Director of IUM since 2013, emphasizes: “The IUM has reached a new level: The bachelor’s program, the most popular, now has more than 650 students.”

To meet this growth, the International University of Monaco will soon significantly increase its teaching spaces by acquiring new facilities dedicated to faculty and administrative staff near the university. This expansion results from continuous reflection on teaching methods and students’ needs.

"Rethinking the physical teaching spaces led us to create new collaboration spaces in the Stella building. These spaces enable our students to fully engage in this cooperative educational approach, which we strongly believe in. Our challenge is maintaining quality support despite this growth."

The increasing number of students has necessitated the recruitment of professors with international backgrounds from the world’s top business schools, ensuring that class sizes remain small, never exceeding 50 students per class.

The Two-Semester Abroad program is an exciting new opportunity for second-year bachelor’s students. They can enrich their education during their second year by spending one or two semesters abroad. They can study at one of the Omnes campuses in Barcelona, Geneva, London, Munich, or Paris or one of IUM’s many partner institutions worldwide (more than 30 to date). This experience will allow them to deepen their global understanding and expertise, opting either for one semester abroad or the international pathway, including two semesters abroad.

Finally, IUM offers a fourth specialization dedicated to the yachting industry as part of the Master’s in Luxury Management. This new specialization naturally enhances our existing offerings, responding to the specific needs of the yachting sector, which seeks professionals with tailored management skills. As the global hub of yachting, Monaco provides an ideal setting to train the future leaders of this rapidly growing industry.

CUSTOMIZED EXECUTIVE EDUCATION FOR PROFESSIONALS AND COMPANIES

For 20 years, the University has played an essential role in supporting professionals to help them improve their leadership, finance, luxury, and compliance skills. As a renowned higher education institution, we have developed and implemented high-quality training programs specifically designed to meet the evolving needs of the labor market. Through our commitment to academic excellence and our practical approach to learning, we have helped numerous professionals enhance their skills, broaden their knowledge, and develop their professional potential. By collaborating with industry experts and providing innovative learning resources and opportunities, we have contributed to advancing our students’ careers and meeting the increasing demands of the modern professional world.

For 2024-2025, IUM is also launching new training programs for professionals in its areas of expertise, such as management and customer experience in the luxury sectors, wealth management, artificial intelligence and banking performance, and compliance.

Outlook and Challenges

“In addition to the continued strong presence of French and Italian students, we are seeing a significant increase this year in the number of students from the United States and Canada, followed by many from Northern and Eastern Europe. The return of students from some non-European countries is a positive sign,” adds Jean-Philippe Muller.

Enrollments in the Master’s in Sports Business Management have grown significantly this year, reflecting strong interest in the opportunities offered by the sports sector, both in the Principality and internationally.

The IUM remains true to its values of diversity and multiculturalism.

"Working with more than 70 different nationalities is a real learning experience.
Our environment provides a privileged space to listen and understand each other, even in a globally tense context."
