Congratulations to the IUM team who qualified to the final round of the CFA Research Competition!

We are excited about this great opportunity. From the first day, we knew that it would be difficult to top last year’s result. We feel proud to be able to represent IUM in Paris and very thankful for the immense support we received from professors, alumni, staff and fellow students. It is rewarding to be among the best business schools in France. We feel thrilled to compete with them and will give our best to qualify for Dublin.

The MSc in Finance students take up the challenge for the second time only. This year, they competed with seventeen other top schools in France and has to research and analyze PERNOD RICARD, a French company that produces distilled beverages.

We think that preparation is essential. Besides digging deep into our analysis, we also look for information that complements our thoughts about Pernod Ricard. It is important to have a sound structure in our presentation that is persuading and appealing at the same time. Also, we will train a lot with help from IUM with regard to our presentation skills.

The three other finalists are Toulouse Business School, University Lille II, and University Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne.

Big names have been eliminated from this competition such as AUDENCIA School of Management, EDHEC Business School, EMLYON Business School, ESCP Europe Business School, ESSEC Business School, Grenoble School of Management, University Paris IX Dauphine.

IUM is very proud of the team and wishes good luck to Laetitia, Ksenia, Gerrit, Benjamin and Federico for the final!

The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual global competition that provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis. Students work in teams to research and analyze a publicly traded company — and also having the chance to meet with company management. Each team writes a research report on their assigned company with a buy, sell, or hold recommendation and if the report is selected, the teams are being asked to present and defend their analysis to a panel of industry professionals.

The MSc in Finance at IUM is filled with exciting challenges like this CFA Institute Research Challenge and provides opportunities for students to land careers with top financial institutions and very attractive position.

The participation to the competition was Professor Campa’s initiative who mentors the team until the very end. Despite of the huge amount of work on top of their studies they learn a lot in terms of time management, research, and applying the theory to a practical case. But more importantly they work in team, they have become good friends, and now planning new projects together.
