Three new business concepts for ocean preservation awarded!
On June 19, at the Grand Finale held at the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco, the three winners of the Monaco Ocean Protection Challenge (MOPC) competition were awarded by H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, a passionate advocate for marine conservation, actively working to raise awareness among world leaders about the importance of protecting our oceans.
This international competition is designed to empower students and young entrepreneurs. It provides tangible support for the creation and development o startups that demonstrably have a positive impact on ocean preservation within a short- to mid-term timeframe.
IUM and its partners, the Institut océanographique, Fondation Albert Ier, Prince de Monaco, the Fondation Prince Albert II de Monaco, and Monaco Impact congratulated the winners selected by a local and international jury among 40 teams from 24 universities representing 25 nationalities.
IN THE STUDENT CATEGORY
•NEMA (University of the Côte d'Azur): An innovative supplier of blue energy that transforms marine mechanical energy (waves and currents) into a sustainable and reliable system producing electricity.
IN THE STARTUPS CATEGORY
• INNOV&SEA (Company registered in France): An innovative and eco-responsible in vitro ecotoxicity test to help formulate products that are more respectful of the marine environment, founded within the Cancer and Aging Research Institute of Nice (IRCAN).
"COUP DE COEUR" OF THE JURY
• AQUA (IUM): Harness cutting-edge drone technology and artificial intelligence to clean the oceans, thus guaranteeing a more sustainable future.
