Students in the Bachelor's Luxury specialisation program recently had the unique opportunity to delve into the world of the gambling industry with a visit to the Monte Carlo Resort & Casino.

A Journey Through the History & Strategy of Gambling in Monaco

The visit began with a captivating presentation by Mr. Eric CICERO, Founder and Managing Partner of C&P Consults and Events, who traced the history of gaming in Monaco and the casino’s evolution over the decades.

He unveiled the secrets behind this legendary institution, including:
▪ The profiles of players and their behaviors.
▪ The economic strategies that drive the casino’s success.
▪ The significance of events hosted by the casino: they serve not only as powerful tools to attract a global clientele but also as a socially acceptable reason for players to visit the casino.
▪ The marketing techniques used to entice and retain players.

A Work of Art in the Service of Luxury
Following the introduction, students toured the casino's stunning spaces , guided by Mr. Thomas Bonafede from the Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer. The goal is clear: to provide an immersive experience where the game almost becomes secondary to the venue’s beauty.

To enhance the experience, Mr Bonafede shared fascinating anecdotes about the hidden history behind certain decorative elements, such as the concealed openings hidden behind wooden covers in the walls. These features allowed casino employees to monitor players and catch cheaters... the precursor to modern security cameras!

???? Mr. Cicero ended the presentation with a global perspective on gaming trends: highlighting where casinos thrive the most, which markets generate the highest revenues, and how gaming practices are evolving.

To conclude the visit, students also participated in a roulette session led by professional croupiers, who explained the rules and intricacies of this iconic game.

Through this visit, students discovered that behind the grandeur and elegance of the casino lies a complex, almost scientific mechanism, where every element is carefully designed to enhance the customer experience and maximize revenue.
A lesson in luxury, certainly, but also a lesson in strategy, economics, and... mathematics!
